Michael Jackson 50-Foot Robot Replica In The Works?

Michael Jackson 50-Foot Robot Replica In The Works? All Michael Jackson news has to be taken with a grain of salt. I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about the veracity of the following news item. However, his associates are quoted, so it has to be true. And, truth be told, it sounds pretty great.

According to Yahoo! Music, Michael Jackson is currently in discussions regarding the creation of a 50-foot robotic replica of himself to roam the Las Vegas desert. For some time now there have been negotiations for Jackson to front an elaborate Vegas stage show, one tenant of which would be this giant robot sauntering around the desert, shooting laser beams.

If built, the idea is for the metal monster (Jack-zilla? Mecha-Michael?) to be seen from airplanes flying into McLaren Airport, i.e., the first thing tourists see upon entering the city’s airspace.

Do the people of Vegas really want a gigantic Michael Jackson being the first thing visitors see when entering their fair city?

The robot’s designer, Andre Van Pier, and his partner, Luckman Van Pier (don’t know if those are real names or not), claim blueprints for the robot have been drawn up and shown to the star. Luckman Van Pier told the New York Daily News, “Michael looked at the sketches and likes them … It would be in the desert sands. Laser beams would shoot out of it so it would be the first thing people flying in would see."

Jackson also apparently lives (or spends some time, anyway) in Vegas now, as he considers the city as a staging ground for his comeback from the 2004 child sex case.

Until we all see a prototype, the idea speaks for itself, and there’s little else to say.

  • I have heard crazier rumours about Michael Jackson. I'll believe this story when I see it, or hear it from Michael himself.
Wouldn't robot Michael be lonely? Would it need a robot friend? I wonder if Robo Michael would be as kind as the human Michael, or he might malfunction and destroy the whole city...something to think about.
  • HI, Michael!

Before you build replika of yourself mye be better time to help for someone who need you more - look at Oprah and her school in Africa for example?

    Take care
    wish my best for you.
  • there is some reasonable comment from others....

With a little work and our love, you and I can rebuild anything. Always.

    PEACE!

-Ok, Luckman Van Pier is totally the name of a man wearing a cape and two monocles who likes to do that Mr Burns thing with his fingers and cackle "Yes! Yes! Yeeeeehheeesss!!!"

-I know I'm not alone in thinking that this sounds fucking awesome. It's like a real life "Moonwalker" robot. Roaming the desert for all eternity is probably a step up from Jackson's current career prospects, to be quite honest.

    -Best. Idea. Ever.

Well, not really. But still, that is f awesome.

I know. I kept reading the article, going "this HAS to be satire". It appears to be legitimate though.

I love how a 50 foot (impossible to build) robot wasn't enough. It has to shoot lasers as well.

Really though, the last time the ASIMO project revealed their man-size robot it fell over. How the hell do they plan to make a 50-foot robot do the moonwalk?

It's also going to take a lot of diamonds to cover one of the hands.

-Well, I guess they plan to have...actually, I don't know how this will work.

Unless they make thousands of children operate each individual part or something, I've no idea how this will work.

  • hmmm.... will it dress in drag?..... does the nose fall off? ... will it offer hot cocoa to the little Bots?.... will it be as pretty as the DionneBot?....
  • All I have to say is it's about time someone created a 50-foot replica of Michael Jackson. I mean, really, what took them so long?
  • A robot , very interesting !!!! Before I read the story, i did not know what to believe. I thought if it was true , would it roam the city of Las Vegas. The desert sounds reasonable and i hope MICHAEL JACKSON is trying to FORSHADOW a SHOWS in LAS VEGAS and BRAND NEW ALBUM !!!!! I believe he has sumthing big planned . Michael keep those brillant ideas flowing .
