Michael Jackson Boots the Kids from StudioAuthor: Peter Kimmich

Music-News reported Friday that Jackson, working on a new LP, has decided to buckle down in order to replicate the success he enjoyed before he started getting … all … weird. This means, of course, no kids in the studio. It’s out the door with Prince Michael, 11, Paris, 10, and six-year-old Prince Michael II, and all the issues they will likely have growing up. In an apparently canned publicity quote, a source said, “He realizes this is very important and doesn't want any distractions.” I’ve never had any complaints about Jackson’s music, as on CD he is usually his badass self, but let’s hope Jackson concentrates harder than he did recording “Ghosts,” the 1997 short film about a kid-loving maestro’s persecution at the hands of an evil mayor, which sloppily mirrored Jackson’s persecution at the hands of the press. Worst moment: Jackson: “Hey kids, you like it when I do my little…?” (magically twirls his hand in the air) Kids: nod eagerly. Jackson is joined in his Las Vegas studio by DJ and mixer RedOne, who has worked with Kat DeLuna, and hip-hop producer Akon, who has hung studioside with a number of artists, including Eminem and Snoop Dogg. We’ll have to see what this dream team can come up with. |
