Nobody could put us in a trance with a funky song like the New Kids on the Block did back in their day. And in case you hadn’t heard, their day has returned as the boy-band is back together. What’s more, come this weekend, they’ll have a brand new video for their new song, “Summertime.”
Remember when music video premieres were a huge deal? Maybe they still are. The fact that I’m old enough to feel nostalgic (and yeah I’ll admit it, a tad bit swoony) over the NKOTB reunion should indicate that I might be somewhat out of touch with the whole music-video scene. When I first started to develop an appreciation for music videos, I was probably in my tween years. Back then I had pictures of Donnie Wahlberg, which I tore from the pages of magazines like Tiger Beat and Teen Magazine taped up on my wall. That was during a time when a gallon of gas cost about a dollar and a box of lemon-heads was only 10 cents.
Anyway, VH1 is premiering the “Summertime” video this Sunday, June 8th at 2:00 p.m. After that, the video will air on VH1’s morning video block, Jump Start everyday for a week. And if you just can’t wait, you can view a preview of the video on VH1’s website.
