Unhappy with slowly fading off the cultural relevancy radar, Motley Crue’s primary songwriter, Nikki Sixx, has agreed to run Eleven Seven Records. The label, which sports Trapt and Drowning Pool, has given the bassist full creative control, and he’s expected to start meeting with the full roster of bands soon. Not bad for a former heroin addict who once woke up inside a dumpster with needles in his arm.
According to Billboard, the move will go into effect immediately and reportedly goes well beyond just being a goodwill embassador. Speaking about the new position, Sixx said, “I find it very interesting to take the artist's craft, the art, the music, the image, and get it out there. It comes under the heading of 'record company president,' but it's a little more than that."
Sixx is currently in the studio with his Motley Cure bandmates prepping a disc for later in the year; so, it’s highly probable his Miami Ink star girlfriend Kat Von D won’t be seeing too much of her new knight-in-shining-leather.
