No Doubt Sort Of Reunites At Stefani's Solo Show
The boys and girl from No Doubt reunited for a surprise performance last Friday night, June 22, at Gwen Stefani’s solo show at the Verizon Amphitheatre in Irving, Calif.
As NME so matter of factly reports, the old gang played some of their beloved oldies from the '90s, including “Spiderwebs” and “Just A Girl,” plus one that made its way into the '00 age, 2002’s “It’s My Life.”
Luckily the bandmates managed to be in town for the show, given they actually live there, and managed to make themselves available for the event. This allowed Stefani’s new teenage fan base to inquire, “Who’s No Doubt, again?”
But I’m sure it was a fine show and that the crew was psyched to be up on stage together, trying to recapture some of that old magic. No Doubt announced this month it would reunite, for real, to work on the group’s sixth album, its first since 2001’s Rock Steady. With any luck, Tony Kanal will reinstall Gwen’s early appetite for punk, because if not, well, it’s going to be a long summer of recording for them and our ears will be able to pick up on that.
