The long sordid tale of the broken relationship between Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and Kaiser Chiefs’ front man Ricky Wilson has taken another bizarre turn, with Wilson publicly admitting Oasis was his favorite band growing up. “They were fantastic,” the vocalist said after admitting he used to always watch them play on Top Of The Pops. Of course, throwing in the past form of the verb instead of the present “are” is slightly offensive, in and of itself; so, we’ll call this gesture a broken, deformed olive branch.
According to Music-News, Wilson previously unleashed this torrent of offensive claims about the Gallagher Brothers: “Oasis have disappeared up their own asses. They think they are Led Zeppelin--They’re not. Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as their successor.” Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, Ricky. Neither of you are Led Zeppelin.
In typical drunken, no-filter rhetoric, Noel responded to the charges saying, “The Monkees haven’t split up, they’re going under the name of the Kaiser Chiefs.” Stay tuned. God only knows how Noel will respond to this.
