Long considered a disenfranchised, counter-culture wasteland, the beginning-to-retire hippy demographic could have a marginal impact in California, and the three surviving members of the Grateful Dead reunited and played a concert last night in support of Obama. The gig was attended by over two-thousand enthusiastic fans, and the band broke their forty year political silence in order to back the Illinois Senator. Guitarist Bob Weir even compared Barack to fallen icon Robert Kennedy. According to Reuters, the concert began with a taped message from Obama, which thanked the group and their fans for the support. Bassist Phil Lesh then told fans he’d met the Presidential Candidate on the campaign trail, and he gleefully told the rocker his iPod had several Grateful Dead songs on it. I wonder if Hillary Clinton would admit to liking a band famous for its pro-drug stances. I’d guess not. We here at CB Music aren’t endorsing one particular candidate, but we strongly encourage everyone to get out and vote. When asked what type of government the founding fathers gave the American people, Ben Franklin quickly responded, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Go do your part.
