PETA Will Pay Aretha's Taxes If She Ditches Fur
The crazy kids over at PETA love cracking their spiked whip on fur-clad carnivores everywhere. Now they’ve targeted Aretha Franklin again, but this time, they are willing to help the soul singer out of tax problems in exchange for her furs. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are promising to pay off the $19,000 in back taxes that Franklin owes, if she agrees to donate all of her furs to the organization – and never wear any again. Franklin’s Michigan home is also up for grabs under foreclosure, which PETA would also be saving.

After crowning her Biggest Loser last month, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk wrote to the singer personally, offering a “win-win situation” in which Franklin “get to keep [her]home and animals get to keep their lives.” Franklin, would however, lose her furs, which PETA is asking be donated, much like Mariah Carey did when she mistakenly found out that real fur were used on her Roberto Cavalli outfits for one of her tours.

I don’t necessarily agree in taking away articles of clothing from covering up Franklin’s excessive girth, but boy does PETA love keeping themselves in the news. Yet again, another story that doesn’t fail to amaze in how much leeway famous people get – for doing little but simply being famous. Not for nothing but I’ve been known to rock a fur or two, and damn it if I don’t indulge in a good hunk of steak – cooked to “practically mooing at me” - at least once a week. I would, however, gladly forsake my red-fox fur eyelash extensions if it meant complete repayment of thousands in student loans. I’ll be by the mailbox, Ingrid.
