Phil Collins Announces Retirement

Sadly, a Genesis front man, 80s pioneer and former Peter Gabriel band mate will forever close the doors on his Sussudio. Phil Collins inadvertently announced his retirement to The Times today in which he revealed he’s done recording and touring less than a year after reuniting his break through band. Worry not, however, because the singer plans to continue writing for the sole reason of not being able to permanently rest a pen, even though none of it will probably see the light of day. And for Collins, who has collected a hefty catalogue of hit singles, he seems quite content with that.

Collins has a lot to be known for despite the fact that he assumes his career simply conotates how he divorced his wife via fax and the drum beat from “In the Air tonight.” I will now fully admit that I wrote this article simply due to my full-scale nostalgic correlation with all-things Phil Collins. This announcement conjures up distinct memories of pre-teen years shoved in the back seat of the family car between two older siblings - seething for control of the radio during long drives – who seemed to only find camaraderie in “You and Me in Paradise.”
