Pre-Show Debauchery Banned At NJ Concerts

By Rema Rahman: 2008-04-25 13:00:48
Pre-Show Debauchery Banned At NJ Concerts My plans to get totally obliterated for a live rendition of “Your Body is a Wonderland” have been indefinitely scraped. Concert promoter Live Nation has banned tailgating from five New Jersey shows at PNC Bank Arts Center this summer in an effort to curb underage and heavy drinking after over 600 people were arrested there during last summer’s concert season.

Out of the 30 concerts Live Nation has planned for the Central Jersey amphitheater, tailgating has been entirely forbidden for John Mayer, 311, OAR, Beat Stock and Projekt Revolution shows. Ozzfest will not be taking place at all as a result of two teenage overdose deaths and 83 arrests for underage drinking at the venue last August. In addition to those five shows, Live Nation’s Vice President announced during a state hearing this week that additional bans could be placed on other shows depending on which acts play such as 50 Cent. There goes the 40s I was stowing away especially for that one. Please, please note the sarcasm in that last sentence. A total of 615 people were arrested at the venue last summer for not handling their liquor properly with over 400 of them under the age of 20. Maybe this isn’t such a bad thing. These concert-promoting yuppies have the right idea. Perhaps sobering people up could prevent them from doing too much of this:
