R.E.M. Books Modest Mouse And The National To Open

A few days ago, we brought you tracklistings for the new R.E.M. album, but news from the Athens-based trio is continuing to break at a somewhat consistent speed. Well, maybe not, but two juicy new tidbits in less than week is faster than developments usually come.

According to Pitchfork, the indie legends will join Modest Mouse and The National for a trek around North America during May and June. The gigs will begin in Vancouver on May 23rd and end in Atlanta a little less than one month later. One would guess The National would open with Modest Mouse middling, but stranger things have happened. Therefore, we won’t speculate at this time.
