Raconteurs Play Hollywood, Writer Sneaks In

Jack White and his mischievous band of cattle rustlers, who get their jollies by doing things extremely last-minute and throwing everyone off their ponies, have announced a surprise Hollywood gig, NME reported Thursday.

The one-off show is in support of the band’s latest release, Consolers of the Lonely, which was announced only a week before its release. This officially makes the Raconteurs the least likely band to make a reservation, should they go on a date.

The show will be at the Henry Fonda Theater May 18, followed by a handful of (hopefully planned) US gigs, before the band starts hitting the summer festivals. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon, but this writer having a day job, the best option here is looking like the back door, or the roof. I hear stuffing oneself into a kick drum case and stacking oneself with the band’s gear is an effective way to get into a show, though rationale says one will then be in the predicament of eventually being opened on the stage. I’ll have to figure something out.

Tickets are cheap ($23 on Ticketbastard), but the whole Sunday night thing might be a challenge to some. Then again, the Raconteurs went to all the trouble of planning this. Check them out if you can make it, but I’m sure if you end up standing them up, they probably wouldn’t feel too bad.
