Rant: An Open Letter To Tom DeLongeAuthor: Mack Rawden

During an interview with MTV’s Buzzworthy Blog earlier this week, you uttered the following thoughts on Angels & Airwaves’ new album: ”If people are gonna give this record a chance, I ask that they find a hill that's nearby, park their car, open the car doors, lay on the hood, blast the music at night and pretend that the city below is theirs.” Are you trying to convey how epic this new CD will be? If so, let’s hope to God it doesn’t even vaguely resemble 2006's We Don’t Need To Whisper. Listening to that piece of shit was like sitting through a morality lecture from Mark Foley. Don’t spend ten years penning songs about underage drinking and than expect me to swoon at your avant-garde attempts at strumming odes to higher meaning. It doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure Bird Flu had more satisfied customers than Whisper. Tom, I think I speak for everyone when I say Fuck You. Since the 2005 break-up of Blink-182, you’ve pranced around on your pretentious high horse, trying to convince yourself and a few dozen ignorant followers that you’re the new John Lennon. You’re not. In fact, you’re nothing more than some douche who wrote a few catchy, three-chord punk songs about the small things. We’re no longer watching, we’re no longer waiting, and we’re definitely not commiserating. Sincerely, Mack Rawden |
