The 2009 Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame inductees have been announced, and, well, the right people actually seem to have gotten in---unlike the Baseball Hall Of Fame, who once again denied Andre ‘The Hawk’ Dawson. Heavy metal mainstays Metallica made the cut along with rap trio Run DMC and virtuoso guitarist Jeff Beck. Guitarist Bobby Womack and Little Anthony & The Imperials rounded out the star-studded class of ‘09.
According to Yahoo, six current and former members of Metallica will be honored, thus including deceased bass god Cliff Burton and the recently ousted Jason Newsted. The group is expected to perform at the Induction Ceremony unlike Run DMC, who according to Darryl McDaniels can’t “do it without Jay”, Jay being the legendary leader of the group who was murdered in his recording studio a few years back.
We’d like to send out our congratulations here at the Blend to all the truly deserving nominees.
