Rockin The Dems: Obama’s Show Gets A Boost From Crow, Matthews, Legend As the Democratic Presidential ticket of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden prepare to be coronated as their party’s standard bearers in the November election, music is already playing a big part at the festivities in Denver.

As we already reported, Rage Against The Machine have scheduled a free show this Wednesday night at the Denver Coliseum, to coincide with the convention.

Singing at an official kickoff concert Sunday night at Denver’s Red Rocks amphitheater, Sheryl Crow altered the lyrics to her song “Strong Enough,” singing "Are you strong enough to be my man, or my president?". The concert also featured Dave Matthews and Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, according to Billboard Magazine.

Billboard also reports that John Legend was scheduled to debut a new song, “If You’re Out There” during the opening ceremonies at the convention. The song will also be available at iTunes and Barack Obama’s website. Legend’s Evolver album, due out Oct. 28 will also feature the new song.

Music also continues to play a key role in the main event itself. Tonight’s speech by Michelle Obama was bookended by two Stevie Wonder tunes. She was introduced with Wonder’s “I Was Made To Love Her,” and left the stage to “Isn’t She Lovely.” When Obama accepts his party’s nomination on Thursday, Jennifer Hudson will perform the national anthem at Obama’s request.
