Rolling Stones Flee EMI

By Mack Rawden: 2008-01-17 13:40:09
Rolling Stones Flee EMI You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find another record label can. Rock legends The Rolling Stones have become the latest in a series of artists to defect from EMI, after the record label’s massive restructuring. Their current contract expires in May; so, look for Jagger and friends to bolt towards the Universal border then.

EMI seems to be in a state of flux right now, with the Stones officially gone and numerous other artists threatening to withhold albums or go on strike. Radiohead famously jumped ship last year, and Paul McCartney cast the corporation off even before his ho bag wife Heather Mills. I guess you need to have your priorities in order. The recently reunited Verve have also shit a brick over EMI’s new business plan, and British sensation Robbie Williams has also publically announced he wants out. So, look for tensions to only escalate in the next few months.
