Rumors True, Zeppelin Joins Foo Fighters At Wembley
It’s kinda like your big man on campus older brother showing up for your second-grade show-and-tell to prove you’re way cooler than that time you got caught with your finger up your nose. That’s what it was like on Saturday night, the second night of the Foo Fighters’ stint at London’s Wembley stadium, when John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page appeared onstage. But, you’re dreaming, if you thought the surviving Led Zeppelin rhythm section would humble the most enthusiastic man in rock. “Welcome to the greatest fucking day of my life!" roared Dave Grohl as Jones and Page left the stage for the Foos to close the night with “Best of You.”

The rumors started circling last week as an anonymous source was quoted on NME.com as prophesying the appearance. Grohl teased the 86,000 fans in attendance early into the show, proclaiming, “We're gonna do something we’ve never done at a Foo Fighters show and it's gonna blow your shit out the door! Tonight this is gonna be the show that we're gonna be talking about for the next 20 years!" Then, after the stage cleared following “Monkey Wrench, Grohl reappeared and declared, “playing Wembley Stadium is an honor, and if we didn’t take advantage of this opportunity, the greatest fucking night in our band’s lives… for all 86,000 of you motherfuckers, it isn't gonna be any other show.” And, of course, everyone went apeshit when Jones and Page broke into “Rock And Roll” and “Ramble On.” The shit really hit the fan when Grohl swapped places with Foo drummer Taylor Hawkins during “Rock and Roll.” Yes, the drummer from Nirvana banged the skins normally reserved for a Bonham. And you know what, he fucking killed it! Cheers to Dave and the boys for proving that epic rock shows can simply be a rollicking good time.

Pissed you missed the best Foo Fighters show there will ever be? Doubtful that Zeppelin sounds good sans Plant and Bonham? Check it out for yourself:
