Scorsese Directing George Harrison Rock Doc
Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last decade, you probably can name and talk extensively about your favorite Martin Scorsese film. I swing for Goodfellas, which happens to be my favorite movie of all time, partly because of the role the music plays. In fact, the soundtrack plays an important role in nearly all his films. Case in point: the scene in Goodfellas when Robert DeNiro’s character, Jimmy Conway, entertains the thought of killing off Morrie, the opening riff of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love” plays as DeNiro sits at a bar and has a smoke, staring at Morrie, while the camera slowly zooms in on DeNiro’s face. You get the picture.

It seems Scorsese is as much a music fan as he is a brilliant director. Scorsese, who has made rock-docs in the past, including the Bob Dylan biopic No Direction Home, will be focusing on the life of George Harrison in his latest musically inspired endeavor, according to Variety and MTV.com. The upcoming film, which is unnamed for now, will be produced alongside Harrison's widow, Olivia. The late musician’s former Beatles bandmates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are also on board to participate. The project will concentrate on Harrison's experience as a guitarist for the Beatles and his later years, and it will also touch on his participation with Eastern spirituality.
