Smashing Pumpkins' Fan Dies At Show
The Smashing Pumpkins claim yet another young life (though this time it wasn't a suicide after listening to the entire Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album all the way through in one sitting). According to Music-News.com, an unnamed 20 year-old fan died at a Smashing Pumpkins show in Vancouver on Monday after apparently being trampled and crushed to death in the mosh pit. Being the good Canadians that they are, fellow concert-goers pulled the unconscious man from the crowd but it was too late to revive him.

No matter how you spin it, the death of a young guy at a show is not going to win laughs with with anyone except members of the Going to Hell Club (known on the streets as the GTH), but this incident does beg the question: Are fans going that crazy at a reformed Smashing Pumpkins concert? This isn't Hatebreed for God's sake! Sure, back in the day the Pumpkins had some spunk as did their fans, but even so they hardly seem the band to incite such violent slam dancing that someone could actually die. This story would make more sense if the headline read: Smashing Pumpkins fan bored to death at newly reformed band's show in Canada.
