As it is this writer’s personal obligation to forward anything and everything substantial to do with Pavement and/or Steve Malkmus on to the public, let it be known that Malkmus and his Jicks are stumbling, slouching and generally setting forth tonight on a tour that will take them throughout the U.S. and into parts of Canada and Europe, Pitchfork reported Wednesday.

Though Malkmus is making a point to stop by Sacto, Northern Cal, which is not far from his old stomping grounds, aka the tire yard and mechanic’s shop known as Stockton, he isn’t venturing into SoCal save for Coachella. This disappointment is only slightly overridden by the fact that he will be joined in Portland by Shins howler James Mercer just a month and a week after the secret MySpace show the Jicks played there on March 4. Portland, you are bastards.
