It seems teen rocker Teddy Geiger has been having trouble selecting which of his thirty-three songs will make the cut on his new album; so, he’s asking for a little help from his friends. And you. And me.
According to Billboard, Geiger’s official website has been technology 2.0ed with a whole host of features allowing fans to listen to his bevy of new material, as well as download and vote for which tracks they’d like to see on a standard release later this year. Yippie!
Now, this is the part of the article where I’d normally make a few bad puns about Geiger rhyming with tiger and maybe throw in a little needless aside about his new movie with Dwight Schrute (The Rocker) hopefully being better than Wassup Rockers, but you’re probably all sick of my contrived analyses at this point. Therefore, I’m going to let you email me with your preferred choice of the following three ways I could conclude this news story.
A): Honestly, does anyone really care about Teddy Geiger anymore? Yeah, his album cracked the Billboard Top 10 like five years ago, but the musical landscape has been refurbished since then. Teen stars come and go like bowel movements, and with the exception of Leif Garrett, none of them have lasting careers. Oh wait.
B): OMG! I’m so xsited ‘bout Teddy Geiger’s new download material. He’s so gonna be the next Beethoven or some shit. Not that stupid dog either. The other guy who wrote some songs on piano. He totally pwns all.
C): In all honesty, this really is the defining moment for Teddy Geiger. He had a nice little album a few years ago, but at some point, teen idols need to grow up. Michael Jackson gave us three (maybe four) awesome solo albums after he passed puberty, but for every one MJ, there’s a dozen David Cassidy’s. I’m actually rooting for the kid (adult now?). He’s a pretty impressive piano player, and the wide variety of instruments he’s mastered is commendable. It’s put up or shutup time, and frankly, I’m a little apprehensive about giving the masses any say in such a pivot album. Only time will tell. I’ve been wrong before.
