Teenage Jesus And The Jerks Reanimate

By Mack Rawden: 2008-03-26 16:28:24

Teenage Jesus And The Jerks Reanimate New York No Wave pioneers Teenage Jesus and the Jerks are set to offend, harass, and disgust a new generation of fans. Founded in ‘76 by Lydia Lunch and James Chance, the group gained a notorious reputation for performing ten minute sets and generally acting outrageous but broke up a few years later after recording less than eighteen songs. Funny how pop culture has a mind of its own.

Spurred on by a renewed interest and an upcoming Thurston Moore book on the No Wave movement, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks will reunite on June 13th. According to Pitchfork, the gig will take place in New York City at the famed Knitting Factory and feature a special guest band from the late ‘70s. Here’s to hoping they tear the mother down.
