The CB Music Friday Flash 08/15/08: Rage, Kid Rock At The VMAs, Ben Folds, Best Weekend Concert Bets Welcome back to this week’s edition of the Friday Flash. It’s Friday baby, so show em’ if ya’ know em’.

We start this weekend’s roundup of music news with everyone’s favorite rap-rockin’ political rabble rousers Rage Against The Machine. You might recall a few weeks back when we brought you the news that Rage had scheduled a Sept. 3rd Minneapolis concert to coincide with the Republican convention that same week in nearby St. Paul.

Well, it seems that the ever volatile Rage boys are equal opportunity political offenders, and have now scheduled a free show Aug. 27 at the Denver Coliseum during the Democratic National Convention. According to Billboard, the concert is part of the Tent State Music Festival to End the War, and will also feature Flobots, the Coup, State Radio and original MC5 radical rocker Wayne Kramer. Tickets will be given away for free by lottery.

Earlier this week, we also reported that Britney Spears may be headed back to the MTV Video Music Awards for a return engagement. While that has yet to be confirmed, we can report that the VMAs have announced that Kid Rock will perform his mega summer hit “All Summer Long” for the event. Kid joins a thus far Britney-free lineup that also includes Lil’ Wayne and The Jonas Brothers. The rumor that Tommy Lee will sit in with the band on drums has yet to be confirmed.

Finally, from Rolling Stone comes the rather strange story of how Ben Folds leaked a fake version of his upcoming Way To Normal album (due Sept. 30) to the internet. Folds leaked the “fake” tracks, which include songs like “Bitch Went Nutz” back in July. "They sound like roughs because they haven't been worked over and ruined like everything else that gets released these days," Folds told Rolling Stone. "I figured a lot of people would get it and a lot of people wouldn't, but that's the way it is with my music in general."
