U2 Plays Surprise Gig
Anyone stopping by the Union Chapel in London on the 22nd? Nah, I’m not going to go either. Some no-name band is playing. I think they’re called Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions. Who the hell would even name a band Mencap?

Well, it turns out we both screwed up. Apparently, Mencap’s Little Noise Sessions was actually Bono and The Edge. They played four obscure songs and even briefly broke into Bob Dylan’s “Like A Rolling Stone.” NME was there, those bastards, and they’ve reported The Edge played a little keyboard before the duo closed with “Wave Of Sorrow.” I’m not even a huge U2 guy, and I wish I would have been there!

BBC radio personality Jo Whiley introduced the tandem, referring to them as "A new band with a lot of potential...Dave the guitarist is very nervous...If he makes a mistake forgive him, he's new. The singer is very shy." Son of a bitch. Someone needs to invent a time machine already, so I can go back and see this. I guess if I’m not too tired, I’ll also warn someone about 9/11.
