For the second time in less than a week, an indie band has chosen Saturday Night Live over previously scheduled concerts. The culprits this time, Vampire Weekend, nixed four dates in Florida to appear on the popular late night sketch comedy show this weekend.
According to Pitchfork, the group have already rescheduled two of the cancelled gigs for June and hope to make up the others at some point. All apologies to angry Floridians, but this is clearly the smart play for their career. More important people watch SNL than attend five hundred person clubs in the Sunshine State. I’d advise members of Vampire Weekend sleep with one eye open, though. Remember what those tan bastards did to Elian Gonzalez? Savages.
