For those of you out there who got super-excited about seeing Diamond Dave and Eddie Van Halen back onstage together again, you might want to temper yourselves a bit. In a bit of news that surprises absolutely nobody, the proposed and correspondingly sweated-over Van Halen reunion tour may no longer happen.
According to NME, the tour has been postponed indefinitely. Though no dates were officially announced, a 40-city tour, the band’s first with David Lee Roth in 20 years, was in the works. However, Pollstar has reported that the tour is off until further notice.
Wow, imagine that? Two men who haven’t liked each other for quite some time still can’t seem to get along and accomplish anything. What a tease. Something tells me this planned tour never got past the idea stage. It was offered and accepted, and then everyone involved realized exactly what they had agreed to and the whole thing went up in flames.
The big loser in this (other than David Lee Roth), as always, is Van Halen’s fans. It wouldn’t matter if they didn’t tour so long as they didn’t constantly dangle the possibility that they could work things out and give their fans what they’ve been clamoring for. From now on, just shut up, guys, until you’re actually ready to let bygones be bygones.
Until then, you’re just torturing the few fans you’ve got left. And at this stage of the game, it doesn’t do Van Halen any good to piss off those that remain. In 10 years or so, they’ll finally be ready to do it, finally be ready to get over their egos and do what they were put on the Earth to do, and the news will be greeted with an enveloping nothingness that swallows the band whole.
Two-hand tapping was huge a long time ago. Same with “Hot for Teacher.” The guys in Van Halen need to understand this simple fact and what it means. Then, perhaps they’d be a little nicer to the seven or eight people who still care to get excited about them.

Yes I believe that Dave and Eddie can get along, especially if someone behind the scene like a producer or Bob Marleys' son requires them to get along. Dave said he sings for his supper. so I think it would be a matter of necessity for them to do this concert. I think they got in trouble with some disgruntled fans, and had to make good. Since boys will be boys, they probably will disagree on some issues, but the show must go on and Wolfgang probably wants to play bass, so Eddie needs to consider what is best for his son. Too many arguements with Dave may be out of the picture. Dave may need to watch out about mentoring or influencing Wolfgang too, the fans may not like it. Eddie and Dave are adult humor, and I certainly do appreciate their messages, but Wolfgang is an underaged minor, Well, so much for Michael Anthony, there would have been more freedom to say, sing, or do whatever on stage. If we censor Dave, will he have the same effect? I love this band, but get the act together and clean it up enough to present it legally, no drunks onstage, and lets hear them sing and perform. the D.V.D.'s are great, and seeing them in person must be even greater.
I'm just sick to death of seeing this once-great guitarist and his twice-great band let the fans down yet again.
Get well and GROW UP Eddie...
... and don't forget who the fans REALLY want to see playing bass with you if you do ever get it together. (Also don't forget that you had TWO great singers, and we'd like to see BOTH of them!)
Guitarman..
I'm not here to convince anyone of anything; frankly I was just trying to share some information with some fellow VH fans. Whether you choose to believe me or not doesnt make a difference to me; that's your business. I suggest you go read the new DLR interview published in today's LA Times. The comments made by DLR and reps of Live Nation are clear hints at what I stated earlier. I stand behind my earlier comments 100%.
I pray that Eddie finally gets the help he so desperately needs and can finally conquer his demons once and for all.
one look at edward van(iuse to be a pretty good player, but now i look like some one pulled me out of a garbage can)halen,he just an old dusty rag left over from the 70s/80s.so many players surpass him it must make his head spin, thank god you fans didnt waste your hard earned money on a bunch of over the hill old farts(wolfgang on bass, thats a fucking joke,go see the police at least you"ll get more bang for your buck(and they play really well)how bout rush, there touring in may,so to ed,put the guitar up and get a rocking chair and start drinking again, your a loser
the "Truth" of the matter is van halen is a bunch of cockteasers for their fans and none of you should have ANY faith in these guys to give you what you want ever again. regardless of what happened, they are in the process of letting all of you down. same with GnR and their new album that doesn't exist.
let it go, people. move on. the eighties might have been great for you, but they were a LONG time ago. move into the new millenium. there's a lot of great bands going right now...maybe you should give THEM some attention and let these disappointing bastards fade into oblivion. diamond dave's already there, and he's got t-shirts for sale.
No contracts have been signed yet. Truth I have no idea where you get your faulty information from. Some of the paperwork had been inked but not all of it had been finalized. The "Truth" is the postponement is maybe yes maybe no. The Van Halen News Desk says it is "Likely to happen" but it has been "indefinitely postponed."
"The dates that have been arranged can be re-booked somewhere down the track." says The Van Halen News Desk.
Get your facts strait "The Truth" before you go spouting off about what you know nothing about!!
"The cause for the delay is NOT because of any infighting or issues between Ed and Dave."
The thing is, do you really think you'd know if that were the case? The PR people will be working overtime to try and smooth this thing over and make it seem as sunny as possible.
I'm not saying there is friction between them right now, but I am saying we can't completely rule that out as a factor. Especially given their history and the abrupt nature of the declaration.
After talking with people who have proven in the past to be well informed on what is going on in the VH camp; the cause for the dealy is NOT because of any infighting or issues between Ed and Dave. That is NOT the reason for the delay. The article on this site IS flawed and full of inaccuracies. The band just did a photoshoot for Rolling Stone 2 weeks ago which is due to be published in next month's issue. Whether you want to believe it or not; the band is actually getting along great - perhaps better than ever. Contacts have been signed and the band has been rehearsing since December.
The reason for the postponment in the tour is because of health issues concerning a member of the band. It was determined that if the band is going to do this tour; EVERYONE on board has to bring their A-game; and one member of the band simply isn't in any condition to handle the grinds of a 3-4 month tour in his current physical condition.
Just hang tight; the VH 2007 tour WILL happen.

I have a question for Mr. JP Gorman, How do you know this information is why the tour has been postponed when Van Halen and DLR hasnt released what happened yet. The problem with web reporters today is that they report and say things when they have no Idea what they are talking about.
Although I'm not surprised, it is still disappointing. Just like Rush, Van Halen was best before they delved into synth rock and keyboards. It would have been a great tour...
I was, like you so poignantly stated "super-excited" about this upcoming tour. Although, knowing all the while the groups past history; subconsciously not wanting to accept what was the inevitable. I put forth all my faith and hope that all the boys(the older ones), had finally grown up and put all their differences aside for those of us who still call ourselves "fans". Well, low and behold they've done it again... Let us all down! I hope that Wolfgang can sit the other boys down and give them the "talk" and get them to understand that they're not doing it for themselves, they need to do this for their fans!!! For now, I guess I'll just go back to listening to my CDs and forget that this ever happened and tell myself it was just a dream. I guess if there is a bright side to this whole thing, I'd have to say the one thing that sums it up..."The older we get, the better we were!" I guess maybe it was just meant to stay that way???
