Van Morrison Food Fight Rumors Proven False

By Josh Tyler: 2008-03-20 15:45:49
Van Morrison Food Fight Rumors Proven False Austin's SXSW Music Festival just finished tearing up the streets on Tuesday, and that means a lot of strange rumors about the conduct of some of the musical icons who played there have been leaking out of town. For instance on Monday we brought you this rumor from Perez Hilton, where Perez claimed Van Morrison was banned from several area hotels for throwing a food tray at an employee. As it turns out, that was completely untrue.

Van Morrison’s production company Exile Productions contacted us this week to set the record straight. Here’s what they had to say about Perez’s story: “A rogue blog has suggested that there was an issue with Mr. Van Morrison's recent stay at the Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas. This post is a false, completely inaccurate and untrue story - currently legal action is pending against the blog. Exile Productions feels it is important to take this opportunity to underline the facts relating to Mr. Morrison's stay in the hotel. Mr. Morrison has not been banned from this or any other hotel.”

And if you’re looking for further confirmation that Perez had this one completely wrong, Exile sent on to us a statement they got from John Spomer, Vice President & Managing Director of the Driskill Hotel. He says, "Throughout his stay, Mr. Morrison, as well as members of his party, treated our staff with the utmost professional courtesy and respect. We look forward to the opportunity of hosting him again in the future.” Sounds like Van Morrison is the kind of guy they’d want back.
