Van Morrison Opens Mouth
Sweet-voiced introvert Van Morrison ended his media exile this morning, giving an obvious and underwhelming interview to the BBC. He spoke briefly about his own uncomfortableness with fame before chastising the current obsession with music tabloids, or as he calls them “propaganda magazines.” Come’on, Van. I know you’ve got some juicy stories of debauchery hidden in somewhere underneath that sad-eyed exterior.

According to NME, the Irish born crooner claimed the aforementioned uncomfortableness with being a star as his new album’s main inspiration. Goddamn you, Van. I don’t want an entire LP about how much it sucks for people to ask for autographs while you’re dining at a classy restaurant. I need more unspeakable pain and more dreary hopelessness. Whoever tore out your heart a few months before recording Astral Weeks needs to reenter your life and remove the charred last remnants of your soul. Now, that would be something to sing about.

Keep It Simple is set to be released on the seventeenth. You can also check out the sixty-two year old at SXSW later this week.
