Velvet Revolver Seeks Singer: Must Love Drugs

In the aftermath of the drama surrounding the old skeleton crew of Guns ‘n’ Roses, which ousted their second lead singer on April 1, the band is again looking for a new captain to take the lead scream-stick. And this time they’re doing it à la mode – they’re going online. With ice cream? That’s a possibility, too.
The Revolver remnants – i.e. Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of G’n’R and Dave Kushner of Wasted Youth – are planning to set up a Web site to use as an online audition hub, Billboard reported Saturday. Word from Slash is the band hopes to get the project rolling in the next month or so. “We're at that point of just listening to different things,” the top-hatted ruiner of guitar picks told Billboard. “It's one of those kind of situations where you can't really explain it to anybody because you'll know it when you hear it. So I'm waiting to get that feeling of, ‘Yeah that's it.’” The band reportedly still has an upcoming show in Las Vegas – booked before the highly opinionated Scott Weiland was axed – though online details are scarce regarding a date. For this mysterious gig, they plan to introduce various friends and cohorts to the center microphone. Slash is being coy about the specifics. “I'm not gonna name any names, but a bunch of well-known people will get up and sing some songs, and then also bring up a couple people that we think are pretty good and might sing a couple songs,” he said. “So it'd just be for fun.” Some helpful advice to whoever steps into the role: Don’t get testy about people going to rehab, don’t spend too much time in rehab, and make sure you actually go to rehab.
