Winehouse Ditches Award, But Doing ‘Really Well’
The total mess but ensuing success that is Amy Winehouse’s career continues to ride a roller coaster deep into the peril’s of drug addiction, nappy weaves and making out with Pete Doherty. She has managed however, to add yet another award to her trophy case when the British soul singer was honored with an Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for “Love is a Losing Game” from her Back to Black album Thursday. In typical Winehouse fashion, however, it didn’t come without controversy. The “Rehab” singer, who is, by now, officially the only person existing on the planet that doesn’t think she needs an extensive sixty-two years long detox plan, failed to accept attended the prestigious honors herself - because she was late.

According to NME, she instead sent her father Mitch to clean up the dirty work. “I don't know what I'm doing up here,” Mitch told a stumped audience, adding, “Amy couldn't make it, but she is getting better and sends you all her love." I sure believe she’s getting better. What with frolicking across England in cut offs and colorful bras then having conversations with jars of mayonnaise, who wouldn’t believe she’s getting some help. Winehouse did end up attending the gig long after her father’s speech telling journalists, “I’m fine. Really well,” as an oversized hairclip stuck out from her infamous beehive with husband Blake’s name scripted across a cartoonish- looking red bubble heart. Riiiiiight.
