Velvet Revolver bassman Duff McKagan was quoted in Music-News as saying his band is definitely on-board, if a Zep tour is in the future. “I understand that we have it, although I imagine there will be plenty of bands prepared to kick and punch us out of the way for the privilege!” he said. The latest word has front man Robert Plant pursuing a side-project with country-bluegrass performer Alison Krauss until as late as September, which obviously nixes any near-future tour plans for the band. Though rumors of an October world tour are floating around like hopeful little moths, nothing substantial has surfaced yet. Velvet Revolver is casting its own shadow of doubt on things, with McKagan’s confident-yet-honest observation that while everything is fine right now, Scott Weiland still buys drugs, so it’s hard to predict what will happen months from now. The spikey-haired, lanky front man also has dates booked in May, June and July with his own reunion of rock face-bashers Stone Temple Pilots. For now, though, even a whisper of future plans from the likes of these juggernauts makes me all giddy inside. I’m going to go now and look up how to sell cars on eBay.
