iTunes and Pumpkins Unite

iTunes and Pumpkins Unite
Their new material sucks. Their new lineup is not overly extraordinary live. Yet, The Smashing Pumpkins have recently confirmed that not only will they be releasing more new, probably unimpressive music, but, this music will be acoustic. Furthermore, it will only be available via iTunes.

How cute. If, similar to The Pixies return in 2004, The Smashing Pumpkins had decided, “Hey, we’ll get back together as a full band, play a few shows, have a good time, and probably make a little money,” all would have been well. However, that was not what occurred. And, with the release of this possible cash cow EP, pretentiously titled American Gothic, Billy Corgan and iTunes seem prepared to bare an even more poignant side of the Pumpkins.

Like we needed less well written, more pathetically emotional music from The Smashing Pumpkins.

American Gothic drops January 2 on iTunes.
