Jack White, Alicia Keys Tackle Bond ThemeAuthor: Peter Kimmich

With the much-troubled Amy Winehouse’s recent hospitalization, and nothing coming of the swarm of rumors surrounding who was to take on the newest Bond theme (including names like Leona Lewis, Duffy, Annie Lennox and even Duran Duran), the gauntlet has been passed to indie axe wielder Jack White and R&B crooner Alicia Keys, E! News reported Tuesday.
In the theme for Quantum of Solace, the two are slated to perform the first duet in the history of the James Bond series – but with the film’s soundtrack due out Oct 28, the UK release of the film three days later and the US release on Nov 7, we’ll see how many times the lineup can switch before someone is forced into a frantic, three-day rush-job. The song, in fitting with the James Bond series’ fascination with dying, will be titled “Another Way to Die,” and will be written, produced and drummed by the great White shark himself. Previous production rumors had also involved Mark Ronson – it seems someone can’t make up their minds, and we should probably expect the next rumor to include the Cirque du Soleil, or at least Celine Dion. We’ll see what a hit-indie scruff / top-40 soul combination sounds like when the film comes out, and probably before that when all the commercials do. |
