POP BLEND
Nickelback In No RushAuthor: J.D. McNamara

If I said, “Hey guess what, Nickelback isn’t in any hurry to put out a new album,” I’m pretty sure I’d hear a collective sigh of relief from half the world. The strange thing about it is, I’m also positive that the other half of the world would pop All the Right Reasons into their CD-player and cry themselves to sleep. They’re no doubt the most divisive band of this current generation; you literally can’t go anywhere without hearing some good old-fashioned Nickelback bashing, and yet the disc they released in 2005 is still in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 after 102 weeks!
Unfortunately for the latter half of the world, the above scenario is not just a hypothetical situation, but rather a real news report. But don’t take my word for; here’s what bassist Mike Kroeger had to say: "I think it's probably time for us to sort of fade into the shadows for a little bit and give everybody a little bit of a breather before we come out with our next stuff. An early return, in my opinion, would be a mistake." I tend to agree with Mike, and I just hope that Chad feels the same way. I’m not a Nickelback hater by any stretch of the imagination; I really like their early efforts The State and Silver Side Up, but I never did come around on All the Right Reasons. After some careful thought and much deliberation, I’ve come to the conclusion that a little Nickelbreak could do us all a lot of good. |
