No Spark For Jordin

Completely vindicating what some have called my irrational hatred for Jordin Sparks, her album debuted this week to what could only be generously termed a luke-warm reception. According to early unofficial numbers, Jordin Sparks’ self-titled debut album will pop into the Billboard charts at number ten this week, selling just over one hundred thousand copies. That’s less than half of what Taylor Hicks’ album moved last year.

MTV is reporting the official number will end up at one hundred nineteen thousand copies. I’m not surprised in the least. Sure, Jordin has a nice voice, but she moves around the stage with a grace reminiscent of Stephen Hawking. Here’s to hoping American Idol fans will have the foresight to select someone with at least a tad of marketability this time around.
