UPDATE: Our friends at Moviehole.net have spoken to a source on the Salt production who says the below story isn't true. "Not true...at present Sony prefers the name SALT. In the new screenplay, Angelina's character is called Evelyn A Salt." It's all potayto-potahto debating anyway, and hey, since nothing seems to be official, take all of these rumors with a grain of.... wait for it... salt. High-five!
Though there were rumors that she might be leaving the project, it looks like Angelina Jolie is still attached to Edwin A. Salt. Only according to Production Weekly, the movie’s name has changed to fit the female gender of its lead. Now they’re calling it Erika Salt.
You may remember that Jolie was brought in to replace Tom Cruise, who was originally supposed to play the titular Mr. Salt. Since they’ve now changed the title to fit Angelina’s curvaceous figure, it’s reasonable to assume she’s there to stay.
Erika Salt is a spy movie. Jolie will play a CIA officer fingered as a Russian sleeper agent out to assassinate the president. She escapes capture and fights to reunite with her family and prove she’s not a traitor.
What rumors are you referring to? Jolie did interviews in London not 2 weeks ago to promote the UK release of "Changeling"and on several occasions talked about Salt being her next project. She also mentioned it several times during the New York Film Festival in early October. Two weeks ago in London she even talked about how Brad Pitt was helping her play with disguises she wouldd use in the film. Sounds like you have been reading In Touch Weekly a tad too much.
