Production is still running ahead at a lightning pace for Little Fockers, with a cast lined up and a script being written as we speak. Now Pete Segal, who made last summer's Get Smart, is apparently the frontrunner for the directing job.Segal had been planning to make Get Smart 2 this year, according to Variety, but Steve Carell went off to make a romantic comedy with Tina Fey instead. Now Segal may be preparing to direct John Hamburg's script, after meeting with the principal players on the film this week. I still don't really know what to make of the existence of Meet the Fockers, and don't know if Segal will be able to make it feel relevant. I liked Get Smart a good bit, though, so if anyone can make me care again about Gaylord Focker and company, it may as well be this guy.
