After whoring out the The Hills Have Eyes, it looks like Freddy Krueger might be the next Craven creation to see another sequel. An inside-scooper let it slip that the nightmare of a film project might span two movies, not just one, reports IESB.net.

"The studio is trying to get a new Freddy film up for a late 2007 start. It probably won't be the much-rumored "prequel" film, but either a new "Freddy Vs..." movie or another 'solo' adventure for Freddy - with one treatment in particular, floating around, getting quite a lot of buzz,” said the anonymous source, cleverly nicknamed “The Rewinder.” “It’s simply about the new young couple (hence, young CW-esque stars get to headline) who buy into their first home together... yep, you guessed it... THAT house.

It’s been about 13 years since Freddy stood in the horror spotlight (and about 23 years since anyone cared). His latest outing pitted the clawed Krueger against Jason Voorhees in 2003’s Freddy Vs. Jason. In the spirit of that film, the source continued to share insider gossip.

"The other option is a new Freddy vs. Michael movie. There's a lot of red-tape to get through there. John Carpenter is trying to help sort it out.", said the voice from the shadows. "This film seems to be the most popular option on the table at the moment, so if they can get it up, they will. My money is on this one, too."

"I've heard [the movie studio] is in talks with John Carpenter [director of the original Halloween]. So, maybe Freddy and Jason are going to meet up with Michael Myers," Robert Englund (a.k.a. Freddy Krueger) told MTV.com. "I also hear they have a really good prequel script to A Nightmare on Elm Street being passed around. And there was talk that John McNaughton, director of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, was attached."

We all know that what the horror genre needs right now is another sequel and spin off. Hopefully in 2007, we’ll get both.
