The biblical story of Noah is pretty damn big all by itself. You have to cover all of the evil deeds of mankind, God making a deal with Noah to rescue two of every animal on earth, the building of the ark, the worldwide flood, and, eventually, the covenant that that said God would never flood the Earth again. But apparently that's not the only biblical story that director Darren Aronofsky wants to explore in his next film.

According to Iceland Review (via The Playlist), the Oscar-nominated filmmaker has hired a pair of Icelandic actors to play the the brothers Cain and Abel in Noah. The story says that Jˇhannes Haukur Jˇhannesson and Arnar Dan have been brought aboard as the siblings. In the old testament, Cain and Abel are the two sons of Adam and Eve. At one point in the story Cain kills his brother because he was jealous that God took Abel's offering and not his own. He was then marked and punished to wander the Earth. The story happens long, long before the events of Noah and his ark, but we already know that the film will contain flashbacks, as Real Steel's Dakota Goyo was recently cast as a young Noah.

Noah has already begun and production and his set to star Russell Crowe as the titular hero, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Anthony Hopkins, and Kevin Durand. Paramount Pictures will distribute the movie in the United States and will release it on March 28, 2014 (we still have a long wait for this one, folks).
