Surviving Theatres

discussioncomments published: 2004-11-08 00:00:00 Author: Bill Beyrer
Ben Affleck’s new holiday comedy Surviving Christmas couldn’t survive the top ten after three weeks. It looks as if this failure may find it’s way under Aussie Christmas trees.

Rather than be released in theatres in Australia in time for the holidays, it looks as if the Affleck vs. Tony Soprano yule time flick is going direct to video. Last Affleck film to got DTV down under was his uber-tank Gigli.

What will this mean for his career? In the New York Daily News, Exhibitor Relations head Paul Dergarabedian said “There have been other stars who have had career ups and downs, but with Affleck there's been an amazing confluence of factors. He’s had a lot of negative attention paid to his private life, and at the same time he's had so many bad movies. It's a double whammy.”

Ben’s next potential disaster, Man About Town, is currently filming. Surviving Christmas is still in theatres......for now.
