MOVIE NEWS
007 Dates A Mean Girl Casino Royale has added another potential notch to James Bond’s bed posts. This time it’s Red Eye star Rachel McAdams.
Earlier this week we brought you the news that Thandie Newton was all but confirmed as the next Bond girl, but The Hollywood Reporter now says that McAdams is also in contention for a role in the film. The weird thing here is that Casino Royale has already started shooting in Prague. It’s possible that both Thandie and McAdams could end up in the movie. The movie has cast neither a villain nor a Bond girl, and Thandie has played slinky villains before. It’s hard to imagine McAdams as a baddie, but she could probably slip comfortably into the passenger seat of 007’s Aston Martin. The truth is no one knows what the heck is going on with James Bond’s new girlfriend, not even the film’s screenwriter Paul Haggis. “Every week I read there's a new Bond girl, and I call them and they say, No, you idiot.” Says Haggis. The reports last week that Thandie had been cast were pretty credible though, so if McAdams is in the running it stands to reason that it’s for a role other than the one supposedly occupied by the sexy Newton. In a way, I almost hope Rachel isn’t cast. She’s an up and comer, so a role like this would no doubt be tempting… but she doesn’t belong in James Bond’s world and frankly… she’s too good for this. Bond needs someone empty, pretty, and disposable. Why haven’t they talked to Jessica Alba? Can Paul Walker put on a wig? For more information on Casino Royale, visit our preview page. |
