10 Cloverfield Lane Just Dropped A Super Bowl Spot With New Footage, Watch It Here

Last month, 10 Cloverfield Lane came out of nowhere and dropped a teaser trailer that rocked the internet to its core. And just as the dust has settled from that first look, we've gotten a brand new batch of mostly new footage through a Super Bowl spot that premiered tonight. Dig for clues with us as you watch the spot below.

Paramount released the latest look at the Dan Trachtenberg directed film, which is promising to be the "blood relative" to the original Cloverfield, released back in 2008. Right from the opening, Mary Elizabeth Winstead's protagonist is thrown into the car accident that leaves her in John Goodman's care; and we're just as confused as her. As the spot goes on, we see a fair amount of footage from the previous trailer, with the sharpening of stakes and the smashing of bottles. But as the advertisement winds towards its end, we see some brand new footage.

Besides the footage of the crash that opens 10 Cloverfield Lane's Super Bowl ad, we see Winstead running through an ominous field, an explosion in daylight, and what sounds like a fire alarm in the bunker. Yet for all that the trailer has shown us, it ends with Mary Elizabeth Winstead looking at the house that was her prison, as it's slowly engulfed by a massive light. While the monster from Cloverfield didn't exactly glow when we saw it back in 2009, there is a chance that it could have picked up a new trick after being bombed to Hell in New York City. Though this new look does have us making an interesting hypothesis.

With J.J. Abrams swearing up and down that 10 Cloverfield Lane is a "blood relative to the original film, this leaves a lot of possibilities on the table. This new ability, should it be linked to a Kajiu-esque creature, has us thinking that the monster known as "Clover" isn't the only beastie in the mix. If you remember your Cloverfield history, Clover is just a baby for whatever species it hails from. So there's a chance that Mommy's awake, and very displeased with how New York has been welcoming her baby.

There's still time for 10 Cloverfield Lane to tease out more of its precious secrets before its theatrical release on March 11th, 2015. If you look closely on the internet, you might find some clues buried in plain sight.
