It’s time to celebrate the Christmas/ Chanukah/ Kwanza/ Festivus Holiday season, so here at Cinema Blend we’re enjoying Twelve Days of Christmas. Yes, we know traditionally the “12 days” start with Christmas, but we plan on being celebrated out by that time, so we’re pushing the twelve days leading up to the holiday.

Here at Cinema Blend, we’re celebrating by revisiting some of our favorite holiday movies. These aren’t the 12 best movies out there by any means, just twelve of our favorites. Some of them you might enjoy like we do. Others you might want to check out for the first time.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…

Romantic stories for everyone

Even though it’s not technically a holiday movie, Love Actually remains one of my “must watch” movies at the holiday times. What better time to celebrate romance and love than at Christmas time? Obviously writer/director Richard Curtis thought so as well, since he made the holiday the setting of his tribute to love, romance, and relationships. In fact, the relationships in the movie are so diverse there’s something in here for everyone, from the old Scrooge to the holiday heartwarmer.

If setting Love Actually in the middle of Christmas isn’t enough for you, remember the movie’s heartful rendition of “All I Want For Christmas” by young Olivia Olsen. Personally, I prefer this movie’s version of the song over Mariah Carey’s own, and the track from the soundtrack is part of my holiday listening. Yes, that’s right. Love Actually has won a spot on both my holiday viewing and listening.

That classic holiday moment… Everyone has their own favorite moment depending on which story they like best, but for me it’s Mark’s speechless confession: “Let me say – Without hope or agenda - Just because it's Christmas - And at Christmas you tell the truth - To me, you are perfect”
