21 Jump Street Movie Will Ditch Old Characters, No Depp![]()
It's been a few months since we heard anything from Jonah Hill about his adaptation of 21 Jump Street, the last news coming back in January when he incorrectly compared it to Back to the Future (and earned the wrath of our own Katey Rich). Now, with Get Him To The Greek coming out this weekend, Hill is back on the press circuit and spilling beans about the project.
Speaking with MTV, Hill says that we can stop waiting to see who is cast in the roles of Tom Hanson, Doug Penhall, Judy Hoffs and Harry Ioki because they won't be there. According to Hill, the film will center on a new group of young-looking cops, but that doesn't mean that there won't be references to the old class. Scheduled to begin filming early next year, the actor also revealed that there hasn't been much headway in getting Johnny Depp, who starred in the original series, to make a cameo in the film, but the there is something ready for him in the script should he be up for it. What's peculiar about this story is that Depp has said on at least two occasions that he would be happy to appear in the film if they wanted him. So what is preventing the two camps from getting on the same page? I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn't be surprised if Richard Grieco is out snipping telephone wires somewhere. |
