24 Advance Screenings Of The Hunger Games To Take Place Across The U.S.
The number 24 is certainly relevant to The Hunger Games. Those who are familiar with Suzanne Collins’ novel know that the story features two tributes from each of the twelve districts set to compete in a battle to the death each year in the annual Hunger Games. That makes 24 tributes in total, and as we’re just 24 days out from the film adaptation’s big screen release, it’s no coincidence that Lionsgate has announced that there will be 24 advance screenings of the film, and fans are encouraged to get on Twitter and participate in “unlocking” the cities, after which they’ll be able to enter to win tickets.
Lionsgate is working with Nook by Barnes & Noble on this promotion, which encourages fans to tweet a specific hashtag for the nearest city hosting one of the screenings...
Fans can show their support for #HungerGames24 by visiting Screenings.TheHungerGamesMovie.com and tweeting a unique hashtag assigned to their closest city to unlock Advance Screening locations. Starting tomorrow, March 1, the top four cities with the most Twitter volume will be announced each day and fans will then be able to enter to win tickets to those locations.
The website mentioned above shows a map of all of the eligible cities, and specifies each city’s hashtag. Each day, the top four cities with the most tweets will be unlocked and fans can then enter to win tickets for screenings.
Barnes & Noble also offering Hunger Games incentive to people who buy a Nook on a specific day, at select locations...
In addition, Barnes & Noble is giving NOOK fans in select cities the opportunity to gain exclusive access to see THE HUNGER GAMES before its official theatrical release. On March 10, while supplies last, the first customers to purchase any of Barnes & Noble’s award-winning NOOK devices – including NOOK Tablet™, NOOK Color™ or NOOK Simple Touch™ – at select Barnes & Noble stores will receive two complimentary tickets to the official Advance Screening on March 21. To locate participating Barnes & Noble stores, visit www.nook.com/hungergames.
Given the popularity of the book and how well advance ticket sales did, it seems likely that fans will be scrambling to get the various cities unlocked in the hopes of winning tickets to an advance screening. In the meantime, the wait is almost over as The Hunger Games arrives in theaters on March 23. More information, photos and videos for The Hunger Games can be found in our Blend Film Database.
