Fox Atomic hasn’t exactly been secretive about their plans to turn 28 Weeks Later into a big time, neverending franchise, but now we have our first confirmation that indeed, there’s more movies to come.

A Moviehole reader has given them the scoop on Executive Producer Danny Boyle’s future plans for the franchise. Apparently he’s already planning a third stage to the film, set up by the ending of the soon to be released second film 28 Weeks Later. Click away if you don’t want 28 Weeks Later spoiled for you…

28 Weeks Later ends with the not-zombie virus spreading from England into mainland Europe. So presumably the third film (which has to be titled 28 Months Later doesn’t it?) would pick up with the whole world basically screwed. I think I liked this better when it was called Resident Evil, and even more when George Romero was doing it.
