It’s everywhere by now, but I’m just getting to it. Cut me a break. It’s not that big a story.

But everyone’s excited, because Universal has announced King Kong will clock in at about 3 hours. Peter Jackson just doesn’t know how to make a short movie. I mean, it’s not like he’s condensing Lord of the Rings here. I know he massively overrates the importance of King Kong, but does 3 hours seem a bit long for a big monkey movie?

Still, 3 hours might be alright, I’m just worried it’s overkill, and that perhaps PJ’s obsession with the material has fogged up his ability to know when to say enough is enough. We’ll find out. Universal’s execs are raving about how great it is… but then that’s kind of their job.
