Zach Snyder’s 300 opens this weekend to high anticipation, but not as much anticipation as the next project he’ll be working on: Watchmen. Spartans fighting are cool, but Watchmen has years of comic book fanatics singing its praises to put it ahead on the excite-o-meter.

Snyder’s not exactly clueless to the excitement surrounding his next picture. In fact, he’s doing his best to cash in on it. In the last trailer for 300 Snyder has even snuck in that image to the right at the 1 minute, 52 second mark: a haunting image of Rorshach, one of Watchman’s most complex characters. How’s that for building anticipation?

That near-postage stamp sized image is difficult to make out, but Ain’t It Cool News has a much larger, clearer version of the same image, which they claim to have had their hands on since mid-December. Lucky them, and now lucky-us that they can share it with us.

According to AICN, this is just a test image, but it’s still cool as hell, and guaranteed to become Desktop images for geek-computers everywhere.
