I really really want The 40-Year Old Virgin to be funny. Not just because it would bring me one step closer to my lifelong quest for the perfect belly-laugh (I've never been much good at setting proper goals) but because dammit, Steve Carrell deserves it. He's been kicking comedic ass in other people's films long enough, this is his change to own a movie. Let's hope he grips it by the husk… or whatever.
