Never let it be said that Hollywood doesn't miss a beat. I really truly believe that Studio Execs actually DO work like the suits in the Survivor episode of The Simpsons, with interns devoutly scouring the pages of Variety and IMDb for any movie that might need remade or someone else's action that's worth taking a piece of.

And so hot on the heels of Oliver Stone announcing his plans to make a movie about 9/11 that nobody wants, Universal has hired Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) to direct a movie based on the events on board Flight 93, the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to overcome their hi-jackers and the one that was believed to be targeting The White House.

The as yet unnamed project will be shot on hand-held digital, have a budget of $15 and will no doubt come with an unlimited supply of bad taste promotion.

Paramount has also bought the rights to the book "102 Minutes". Written by US reporters it chronicles the interval between the impact of the first airliner and the collapse of the first tower.

Veil it in as much fanfare about "exploration of heroics" all you like Mr Stone, all three of these projects stink of poor taste and lack of sensitivity. I made a dark joke about this happening in BNN not long after the event happened, seems I was disappointingly right. Strip it down and all this really is, is making money out of exploiting a horrific tragedy.

Stone and Greengrass will both release their movies some time next year. Hopefully to plentiful scorn.
